The 5 Levels of Leadership – My Take
I Just Got Done Reading The 5 Levels of Leadership, Here Is My Take
John Maxwell, the well known leadership guru released his latest book called the 5 levels of leadership. I bought it and read through it rather quickly like most of his books. Maxwell does a great job infusing stories, real life examples, and usable content for readers who are seeking to become stronger leaders. The 5 levels of leadership is also found in at least one other book he has written. In this post I am going to cover the 5 levels of leadership according to John Maxwell and give my own thoughts on the 5 levels of leadership. So keep on reading to see the main points of the 5 levels of leadership and if you agree with them or not.

4 Needed Strengths In Servant Leadership
If You Want To Use Servant Leadership, You Need To Gain These 4 Strengths
Servant leadership dates back to the bible. However in the 1970′s Robert Greenleaf sparked interest in the fact that leaders should serve those they lead. Servant Leadership is basic on paper, but yet deep and profound once you start looking into what the components are of it. Some criticize servant leadership for just being another buzz word that people are drawn to. They also criticize the actual usefulness of servant leadership and if leaders should actually be servants of those they lead. I have a firm opinion on servant leadership which I will get to in this post. Keep reading to know the vital four strengths to develop for servant leadership and whether I think it is just a buzz word or an actual practice all leaders need to adopt.

The Pareto Principle – Any Good?
Should You Use The Pareto Principle?
The chances are high that if you went to business school or perhaps read The 4-Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss you would have learned about the Pareto Principle (also know as Pareto’s Law). Entire companies have been founded on this principle as well. The Pareto Principle is something that you should both learn and test. To be honest I was skeptical at first until I actually started to dig into some numbers in various places. The findings that came did show that the Pareto Principle was indeed accurate. With that said, there are some exaggerations with the Pareto Principle that in my opinion do not stack up to support it. Lets unpack the Pareto Principle shall we.

Profound Knowledge – Messing With My Brain
Profound Knowledge Is Rattling My Mind!
I had never heard of Profound Knowledge prior to me interviewing an SVP at my Organization. I went through my under Grad degree in business, and my MBA in Leadership and never heard of Profound Knowledge and Dr. Deming. Now, after reading more about it and researching it I have no idea why this was not taught in my MBA classes. Dr. Deming was a brilliant man, and I will get into why later in this post. The theory of Profound Knowledge that Dr. Deming is known for shakes the current foundation of how we do business today. It is common sense, but yet very uncommonly practiced. It is a lot to chew on to be honest, and I am only at the beginning of unpacking what the theory of Profound Knowledge is. So stick with me and learn as I learn. I will hit the high notes in this post, and keep unpacking the theory of Profound Knowledge on this blog as I gain more knowledge around it.

The Peter Principle – Is It Accurate?
Is The Peter Principle Still Valid Today?
First off, what the heck is the Peter Principle? The Peter Principle was created by Dr. Laurence Peter in 1968 and the theory was published in his book “The Peter Principle.” In short, his theory focuses on that in an organizational hierarchy structure each employee will be promoted to a level of incompetence. On the surface this theory may seem a bit off. Why would each employee be promoted to a level that is detrimental to themselves and the organization that they work for? When I first came across the Peter Principle I logically thought this made no sense. After unpacking the theory, observing my work environment, and talking with other leaders about this I have came to my conclusion. But before I get to if I agree or disagree with the Peter Principle, lets unpack it a bit more and provide a case study to put the theory to life.

Situational Leadership Theory – Is It Useful?
Every Person Should Use The Situational Leadership Theory
I made a point of saying every person should use the situational leadership theory because it is not reserved for leaders in the business realm. The Situational Leadership Theory will help anyone interact, help, and empower another person who is looking for help and or advice. Everyone is unique and different, and depending who the person is you are helping or leading, you need to adjust your traits and tactics to line up with that person. There is no one size fits all approach to leadership, and if anyone says there is they are totally wrong. If you are in a position to help someone thrive, why not adapt your approach to pinpoint their learning styles and abilities to increase their success rate?
